Removing super glue from vinyl floors? Use these steps:

  1. Remove as much of the hardened glue as you can with a plastic scraper without damaging the floor. Be very careful not to cut the vinyl.
  2. Apply a small amount of acetone-based nail polish remover with a clean soft cloth. Dab sparingly on the area. Be sure not to soak it.
  3. Remove the loosened glue gently and repeat the process a few times if required.
  4. Wipe away any of the acetone left on the surface with a damp cloth after you have removed the glue. Dry the floor to finish.

How to remove a glued PVC pipe

Once you have applied PVC cement and glued two pieces of PVC together, it is impossible to unglue them. This type of cement creates a bond that is stronger than the joints around them. Fear not: there are solutions to get you unstuck and your pipes running smoothly again.

  1. Cut out the problem: Using a hacksaw, cut the problematic section away at the joint. Use sandpaper and smooth down the edges, then wipe clean with a rag.
  2. Get a new fitting: It is here you want to attach a correctly sized coupler to the remaining section of PVC that will also take your new fitting or piece of pipe.
  3. Prime: Apply a thin layer of PVC pipe primer to the inside of the new coupler and the outside of your new section of pipe/fitting. Allow a few minutes for it to dry.
  4. Get gluing: Apply your new PVC glue to the primed areas and twist the pieces into each other for maximum adhesion. Wipe away any excess glue right away before it dries.

How to remove glued PVC pipe: Choose the correct adhesive

LePage Speed Set Instant Mix Epoxy is a product that removes the worry from simple accidents involving adhesives. It has a five-minute open time, giving you time to reposition the parts as well as the time needed to wipe away any messes. It is water resistant and will not shrink. It’s also suitable to bond non-porous surfaces like rigid PVC and other various plastics.

If you need to apply an adhesive in extremely wet conditions, or allow it to cure underwater, you’ll want to use LePage Marine Epoxy. It sets in two hours, giving you plenty of working time. It is both water and solvent resistant to stand up to the toughest jobs. It will not shrink or expand; it stays just as applied once it dries.
